Bukovel Resort in Ukraine: review

There is a resort in Ukraine where people come from all over the world. There are the highest slides and the largest number of slopes: there are fabulous hotels, thematic restaurants and an absolute atmosphere of happiness.

“Ukrainian Kurshavel,” some people say about Ukrainian ski resort Bukovel in the Carpathian mountains. Every year resort Bukovel is visited by about 2 million tourists. Why people like this place so much? Let’s try to find out this. 

Bukovel Resort

The resort is located in the Carpathian region, 35 km away from the famous resort of Yaremche and a two-hour drive from Ivano-Frankivsk. It is easy to go to the Bukovel because of high-quality infrastructure. The nearest airport is in Ivano-Frankivsk (IFO), 110 km away. The nearest train station is in Vorokhta, 20 km away.

Bukovel rightly takes first place among Ukrainian ski resorts. Since its foundation (in 2001), to this day, it is the most technically equipped resort in Ukraine. It is located in a valley between the three mountains, and the resort got its name from one of them – the nearby Bukovel mountain (1127 m).

Bukovel offers everything for a great holiday – this is a well-developed network of lifts, an excellent selection of slopes for different levels of skiing, a large selection of hotels, private pensions, a developed network of cafes and restaurants. Due to the snowmaking system, skating is sometimes possible until the middle of April.

There are local ski schools with qualified instructors work for those who want to get to know how to skiing. 

The total duration of trails is 68 km. It includes red, blue, and black tracks. At resort 16 lifts work. In Bukovel, you can try skiing during the night. 

The prices for ski pass starts from $20/day in high season.

  • Zhenetskyi Huk waterfall (20 km. away from Bukovel);
  • Probiy waterfall (32 km. away from Bukovel);
  • Restaurant-museum Huzulschyna (at Yaremche);
  • wooden Vvedensky church;
  • Hoverla, the highest mountain in Ukraine (34 km. away from Bukovel).

In addition to winter recreation, Bukovel offers a medical and balneological direction. Since 2008, a balneological and medical center has been opened based on mineral water sources there.
