“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” – Dalai Lama
Uber started its work in Ukraine in 2016. It became extremely popular very fast thanks to the positive features we all love: availability, user-friendly software and no-cash politics.
In Ukraine, Uber quickly became a synonym for a comfortable and reliable ride. Uber is available in 7 Ukrainian cities already and this number will be increased soon.
Is it successful in Ukraine?
Despite the steady start, Uber had to reconsider their pricing policy during the first year of working in Ukraine. The company lowered the prices to lure more customers. They also took on the task of checking all the cars and drivers, as there were few complaints on the cleanliness of some cars at the beginning.
One of the newest features is the promotions offering. 50% discount for repetitive rides during one day, welcoming promotional codes etc., – have helped the company to reach new success rate.
Today Uber is popular among tourists, businessmen and white-collars.
Is it reliable in Ukraine?
Yes, it works great. Uber has few extremely useful features for foreigners in Ukraine:
- It’s available in 7 biggest Ukrainian cities;
- It arrives when you need it;
- Detailed maps help in navigation and taxi tracking;
- You can use your standard Uber App, no need to upload new one;
- Interface in English helps in navigating the App;
- Releases you from the need of currency exchange and carrying cash around.
Is Uber expensive in Ukraine?
I’d say, that Uber is in the average price range. There are many taxi services that are cheaper, but don’t have English-speaking drivers or useful Apps. Except of Uklon, but we will talk about it later.
High-class taxi services commonly have great service and English-speaking stuff, but higher prices and again – lack of App.
You can get a rough estimate of your future ride cost with the help of the Uberestimator. The site has information on the base fare, cost per minute, cancellation and other fees in various cities.
Needless to say, that average cost of Uber ride in Kyiv or any other Ukrainian city, is much lower compared to prices in the US or Europe.
UberEats has started its work in Ukraine in February 2019. It is a fast and reliable food delivery service. The UberEats came to the market almost simultaneously with other delivery service – Glovo and both deliveries are fighting for clients right now.
- Ability to order food through your Uber App, without installing new software;
- 35 minutes delivery;
- Large variety of restaurants-partners.
According to many customer reviews, the best alternative to the Uber is Uklon. It has very similar App and a copycat system. Prices on Uklon are a bit lower than on Uber, but foreigners prefer Uber. Partly because of the power of habit and partly thanks to the service reliability.
