How to get visa to Ukraine?

Travelling and discovering other cultures, we expand the boundaries of our consciousness. It is an open secret; however, in order to travel it is necessary to cross other boundaries – the national ones. Sometimes we need a special permission to do that. It is called a visa.

Ukraine, like any other country has its own visa policy and there is a certain algorithm for tourist visa application. This procedure is quite formal and should not be on your way to discovering the world. .

So, how to get visa to Ukraine? Let`s figure it out.

Do you need visa at all?

Before you start collecting documents, you need to make sure whether you need a visa at all. Ukraine has got a number of agreements that allow citizens of some countries to visit Ukraine with no permission.

Well, you do not need a visaif you are a citizen of: EU-countries, the USA, the UK, Switzerland, Canada, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Paraguay, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

Did you find your country in the list? – Yes? – Congratulations! Visa is not required for a stay up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

What kind of visa do you need?

There are two types of visa for purposes of tourism in Ukraine.

This type of visa may be issued to the foreigners-holders of passports of 52 specified countries: Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bahrain, Vanuatu, Guatemala, Honduras, Grenada, Commonwealth of Dominica, India, Indonesia, Qatar, China, Kuwait, Mauritius, Malaysia, Mexico, Federated States of Micronesia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Palau, Republic of Peru, Samoa, El Salvador, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Saint-Vincent and the Grenadines, Singapore, East Timor (Timor-Leste ), Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu.

Ho to apply?

  1. Electronic Visas.Register at the MFA web-platform;
    1. Fill in application form online;
    2. Upload copies of necessary documents;
      • Photo;
      • Passport;
      • Health insurance policy (30,000 euro coverage);
      • Proof of sufficient funds;
      • Document confirming the purpose of the visit.
    3. Pay the fee (85 USD) online by MasterCard/Visa card.
  2. Visa application at the Embassy of Ukraine
    1. First, you have to prepare a set of documents consisting of:
      • A national passport valid for at least three months after the expiry of the requested visa and having at least 2 blank pages intended for a visa;
      • A completed and signed visa application form;
      • One recent passport-size photograph;
      • Valid international medical insurance with a minimum of 30,000 euro or equivalent coverage;
      • Confirmation of the availability of sufficient funds for the period of the intended stay and return to the country of origin or transit to a third country;
      • Documents confirming the tourist purpose of the trip (hotel reservation confirmation, tourist contract or tourist voucher).
      • Paid visa fee receipt (85 USD).
    2. Send your document to the embassy and get your visa to Ukraine. Usually it takes 10 days from working days from the day of application. Sometimes if additional checks are necessary processing time of an application filed within regular service may be extended for up to 30 working days.
